SURGERY OF EYELIDS

It is a procedure that is used to improve the contour and appearance of the upper and lower eyelids. It is an operation frequently requested by men as well.

It is usually done from the age of 35 to 40 and can be performed along with other facial procedures such as facelift or frontal rejuvenation.

The surgical goal is to eliminate excess eyelid bags, skin and wrinkles without producing strange changes in the expression of the person, ie obtaining natural results. This procedure is performed under anesthesiologist-controlled intravenous sedation and complete monitoring.

When performed as an isolated procedure the patient is discharged on the afternoon of the day of surgery.

BEFORE THE INTERVENTION

  • The night before dinner had something light. Do not ingest anything from 12:00 p.m.

  • Do not take aspirin for at least two weeks before surgery.

  • Supplements such as Omega3, Ginkgo Biloba, Vitamin E (over 800 mg.) Should be discontinued at least five days before operating.

  • Do not smoke 15 days before and after surgery.

  • You should list all the drugs or supplements you use.

  • Notify if you have had an allergic reaction to any medication.

  • If you suspect that you may be pregnant, it is important to perform a pregnancy test before proceeding with the operation.

  • Laboratory tests and cardiovascular evaluation will be done to all patients normally one or two days before the intervention in our clinic.

THE DAY OF THE SURGERY

  • Coming in total fast for at least 8 hours (including water).

  • You must make the deposit before you enter.

  • If you experience any symptoms such as cough, congestion, malaise or exaggerated nervousness, you should notify.

  • Come without makeup and unpainted nails.

  • Try not to bring any clothes or valuables.

  • Bring comfortable clothes and sleeping pajamas, as well as your personal items.

  • You should bring a handkerchief to cover your head and sunglasses for when you leave the clinic.

  • It is important to come along with someone you trust who can accompany you, even to sleep.

  • Fill in the internment forms and read and sign the medical consent for the operation. If you have any questions before signing we are ready to clarify them.

  • Before the surgery we take the preoperative photos and review the surgical goals to clear any last questions you have before the intervention.

  • Finally you will have the consultation with the anesthesiologist who will talk everything about your health and medical history. You will then take one tablet of a sleep inducer to start your sedation.

  • At the end of the surgery, the patient will spend some time in the recovery room and then taken to his room.

  • You can drink fluids and food after the effect of anesthesia. About three hours.

POSTOPERATIVE CARE

  • Cold compresses of saline will be placed in the first 24 hours, then the compresses will be of fresh chamomile tea for the next two or three days and finally compresses chamomile tea slightly warm several times a day for a few more days.

  • There will be inflammation and bruising that will fall rapidly from the third day, there may also be edema of the conjunctiva and little redness of the conjunctiva (conjunctival hemorrhage).

  • During the first week you will feel decreased sensitivity and difficulty opening your eyelids.

  • Sleep with your back and head elevated (about three pillows) for a week.

  • Clean the eyelids only with the infusion of chamomile and a swab.

  • After the fourth day you will start lymphatic drainage massages with moisturizing cream or eye contour. In the consultation, we will teach you how to do it.

  • Avoid exposure to the sun until the bruises completely disappear (approximately two or three weeks).

  • It is important to note that each patient is different and therefore recovery varies greatly from one person to another.

  • You may have an increase in temperature, especially in the afternoons, the first few days after the procedure.
