BREAST AUGMENTATION

It is performed on patients who wish to increase the volume of their breasts.

The placement of a breast implant is performed through a minimal periareolar incision in the submammary sulcus. We normally place the implants in a subfacial plane, below the fascia of the pectoralis major muscle that does not interfere with the vision in the radiographic studies of the breast or with the lactation. Our preference for the type of implants uses the implants coated with a layer of polyurethane, because it presents much fewer reinterventions due to complications (mainly capsular contracture) in addition to the better esthetic result and feel more natural.

In order to select the size of the implants, breast testers and pre and postoperative photo revision are used before surgery.

If the breasts are sagged, they should be corrected with a mastopexy or breast lift (see breast lift with implants), which will lead to scars depending on the degree of sagging. This procedure is performed under anesthesiologist-controlled intravenous sedation and complete monitoring.

Breat implants procedure should not be performed if the patient has an active infection moreover if the patients has infection in the breast.
