TUMMY TUCK

Also called abdominal dermolipectomy, it is the procedure by which skin and fat are removed and the flabby abdominal muscles are repaired. This procedure is performed through a supra pubic horizontal incision. We must do it only in patients who have finished their reproduction phase, except for patients who have lost a great deal of weight and have a great sagging (in these cases, the muscles are not usually tense). It is usually combined with liposculpture of the back and thighs mainly. We perform it under anesthetic sedation (asleep patient) and epidural block with constant monitoring. The surgical time is approximately one and a half hours.

THE DAY BEFORE

  • The night before have a light dinner. Do not ingest anything from 12:00 pm.

  • Do not take aspirin for at least two weeks before surgery.

  • Supplements such as Omega3, Ginkgo Biloba, Vitamin E (over 800 mg.) Should be discontinued at least five days before operating.

  • Do not smoke 15 days before and after surgery.

  • You should list all the drugs or supplements you use.

  • Notify if you have had an allergic reaction to any medication.

  • Patients with a family history of breast cancer or older than 30 years will be given sonography or mammography, or both in case they do not have a recent one (less than one year).

  • If you suspect that you may be pregnant, it is important to perform a pregnancy test before proceeding with the operation.

  • Laboratory tests and cardiovascular evaluation will be done to all patients normally one or two days before the intervention in our clinic.

THE DAY OF THE SURGERY

  • Come in total fast for at least 8 hours (including water).

  • You must make the deposit before you enter.

  • Before the surgery we take the preoperative photos as well as review the surgical goals and clear any last questions you have before the intervention.

  • We perform a measurement and marking of the areas to be intervened and we verify that the scar, wherever possible, is hidden by the underwear or bathing suit.

  • Finally you will have the consultation with the anesthesiologist who will talk everything about your health and medical history. You will then take one tablet of a sleep inducer to start your sedation.

  • At the end of the surgery, the patient will spend some time in the recovery room and then be taken to his room.

  • You can drink fluids and food after the effect of anesthesia. About three hours.

  • Usually the awakening is soft and pleasant but you could feel the sensation of suspenders in the forehead.

  • The approximate time for this intervention is one and a half hours.

  • We put an elastic band to help outline the body and reduce the possibility of irregularities, as well as an epiphone to flatten the most important areas that will be moved several times a day.

POSTOPERATIVE CARE

  • Take antibiotics and analgesics strictly as directed.

  • A compressive band is placed that should be worn almost constantly in the first weeks after the intervention, both day and night, withdrawing it only for short periods of time for the toilet and for physiological needs.

  • You should walk with your knees bent to avoid pulling the scar for two weeks minimum as well as sleeping with pillows or cushions under the knees for the same purpose.

  • Do not sleep on your side to avoid compromising the circulation of the abdominal area.

  • You should empty the bloody zero drainage content every day and measure the volume to report it to us.

  • Drainage is checked by us. On the third or fourth day of the intervention when the patient returns to perform his first post treatment.

  • Usually the drainage is removed in the office from the fifth to the seventh day.

  • We remove the stitches 12 days after the intervention.

  • Work and social activities with the belt as well as driving only after two weeks at least.

  • Take oral antibiotics as directed as well as analgesics and gastric protectors.

  • The final result can not be assessed for at least six months.

  • You should not sunbathe for at least six weeks, that is, while bruising, to avoid pigmentation of the areas of bruises (bruises).
